The Decree implementing the European Directive on disposable plastic products (SUP) has been published

On the Ordinary Supplement no. 41 of the Official Gazette no. 285 of 30 November 2021 has been published the legislative decree of 8 November 2021, n. 196 "Implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/904, of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 June 2019 on the reduction of the incidence of certain plastic products on the environment", a decree that will enter into force on 14 January 2022.

Particular attention is paid to plastic cups (Article 4), for which a gradual reduction is expected by 2026, and to plastic bottles (PET), (Article 6) which from 2025 must contain at least 25% of recycled plastic and from 2030 at least 30%, calculated as the average for all such beverage bottles placed on the national market.
